Turning 50 years into 100 Miles
July 21/22 2018. When I took on the challenge of a 100-Mile race, I threw myself way, way outside of my comfort zone. I was prepared to put in the training - run as many miles as needed - but there were so many unknowns, so many things that could potentially go wrong and were out of my control, It scared the crap out of me on most days. For every excuse I had to quit, I had 10 reasons to keep going. And most of those reasons came from all of you. Whether it was a "like" on a post, a comment, a text/direct message, every single one helped to fuel my journey forward and get me to that start line last weekend.
The race itself was an awe-inspiring experience. I couldn't have asked for a better person to share 100 miles/26.5 hours of relentless hills with. (17,000 ft of elevation change!) - Richard Loud, we crossed yet another finish line together - my first 50K, 60K, 50M and 100M...I'm seeing a pattern here . It was a TOUGH course, but we remained focused - one foot in front of the other, aid station to aid station.
A big shout-out to my husband/running partner/ crew- chief/pacer, Jeff: this journey would have been impossible without him. And my other crew/pacers/siblings, Nargis and Kaleem, who travelled all the way from England to lend their support. Jeff, Nargis, Kaleem, Sami and Ellie - the best crew a gal could ask for!
Thank you again for your support - enjoy this short video of race day.
